A bit about our Chef


Vince Williams (Left) was born and raised in the Chesapeake Bay region of Maryland. He spent his boyhood days on a dairy farm and upon graduating from food service studies at the local Vocational School, he went on to graduate from the prestigious Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York.

Upon marrying his high school sweet-heart (Right) in 1978, they began their culinary travels together. In their past 29 years of marriage they have spent time enhancing Vince's culinary training in such places as here at La Chaumière (20 years ago) under the supervision of Heinz Fricker.

Other places include Oregon, where he was able to work with pacific foods such as West Coast Fish and vegetables not yet available in Maryland at the time.

At the Homestead in Hot Springs, Virginia he was able to observe first-hand how a five-star resort is ran. Upon leaving the Homestead they traveled to Santa Fe, New Mexico where he would pick up his southwestern flair. After spending a short time at the Keystone Resort in Keystone, Colorado they returned to their home state of Maryland where Vince spent the last 9 years at the Bayard House in Chesapeake City. There he became known for the award winning Maryland Crab Soup. In his 9 years at the Bayard House Restaurant he was able to collect an astounding 10 awards and numerous other awards involving the local Chef Association where he was president for 7 years.

At home in Maryland, Vince was very involved in the local community, in such efforts as Operation Frontline (Part of Share our Strength), which taught mostly single mothers how to make healthy and nutritious meals on a budget.

Since graduating from the Culinary Institute, education has become a priority. During his career he has been able to help 6 young men to further education. The County Vocational School approached him to help them come up with a more productive curriculum for the students. At the time he left, he was giving away a $500 scholarship a year to any student who wished to further his or her education in the Culinary Arts.
